Bye-Bye Pacifier, Hello Bat!

I love this picture! About 4 days ago, Caleb begrudgingly said goodbye to his pacifier. We did the same thing we did with Jonah, but for some reason Caleb did not take it quite as well. We cut the hole in the pacifier, and that's supposed to make them gradually dislike the pacifier. Well, Caleb did not follow the rules and as soon as he put that pacifier in his mouth, out it went flying across the room with a huge protest involved too! The first night was a pretty tough one, but then we got the bat. You can see it in the picture, it's just his size. As soon as we got it for him it's hardly left his hands. Now, we just put his bat in his bed at night and off to sleep he goes. And he's already prepared if a burglar breaks in too! You can also see his pants in the picture, that's also a new thing. He takes off his pants when he gets into bed, who knows why?

Jonah will have to watch out for that bat when they start sleeping in the same bed, won't he?

I love it! The reason he takes off his pants comes from his Daddy. Adam didn't like any clothes on him at that age and made no bones about it. I thought on Halloween one time that I surely could convince him to be superman and get candy. First of all, he never liked candy, secondly, the clothes were not welcome. I had explained the process to him of trick or treating. So on Halloween evening, Adam is running around the house in his birthday suit when the door bell rings. He was 18 months at the time and before I could catch him, he runs to the door and yells, "Trick or Treat!" There was this precious little "princess" standing there with her dad. I truly hope it did not having a lasting affect on that precious little girl, but the father's face was one of total shock as I hussled Adam away from the door and gave the princess nearly all the candy I had for the trick or treaters, I felt so badly. Adam and I had a talk about that but it looks like that trait may have been passed down. Or we could say that Caleb is smart enough to know that he doesn't need anything restricting him when he is taking on the burglars. How in the world did you ever think of a bat to replace a pacifier? Whatever works. My precious little red headed grandson has a mind of his own, no doubt. His older brother is the same way, but not quite as stubborn. I would say that is thanks to you, Mandy, you would give up the pacifier more like Jonah, I believe. Adam still has that stubborn streak in him, even though he is my precious son. Sorry, it came from Tootsie, I will admit that. However, sometimes, in life, it is worth a mint when you need to stand up for something in life... like your pacifier or bat. :) Love you all and looking forward to my visit.

Okay, GG and I both thought at first his pajama pants was a toy bat, as in an animal bat. I wouldn't have said anything but she emailed and said those things always scare her. So I fessed up and explained what it was after taking a closer look. I have to agree with Mama Gina, that bat just might be a problem when they start sleeping in the same bed. I've learned that bumps on the head can be tough. :)

Barb has already told on me. I missed the play bat altogether, and
thought the pants were a plastic toy the shape of a bat. Regardless, it is a precious picture. That little guy is just
beautiful...inside and out.
I predict that he will be a great
baseball player. So happy that
Tootsie is with you all this weekend. She has looked forward to it so much. Love to all the
ganbabies, big and small. GG

For all of us Grandmother's who were a little concerned about the bat, I saw it. It is a little rubber bat that wouldn't hurt a flea if you whacked it. We should have known. :)
